This week sees the release of Dayton native Joshua Bernstein’s first book, Brewed Awakening: Behind the Beers and Brewers Leading the World’s Craft Brewing Revolution by Sterling Epicure. Bernstein, a graduate of Ohio University’s journalism school, has lived in New York for 11 years (most of those in Brooklyn) and has written about food and drink for nearly every rag in town, including New York, Time Out, and The New York Times, as well as online publications like ForbesTraveler.com, TravelandLeisure.com and Metromix, for whom he writes the Dollar Grub column.
In tandem with the book’s publication, Bernstein is hosting a whole slew of events around New York over the next month, the first of which is the official release party tomorrow night. The party goes from 7pm to 10pm at City Reliquary and will include both homebrewed and Barrier Brewing beer and food from Frankies Spuntino. For $25 you get a copy of the book and unlimited food and drink, while illiterates can pay $10 for grub and brew. If you can’t make that one, he has five more NYC-area appearances planned, details for which can be found on his website.
