Tonight, Sharon Kim, a clinical research associate at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and a former Columbusite, will share some tales as part of Medical Misadventures, this month’s Story Collider event at Union Hall.
Kim, who also works as a marketing associate for Fred Flare, moved to Brooklyn two years ago from Columbus after a friend convinced her to head east instead of west. Columbus natives might remember Sharon for her time in local bands like Frostiva and the short-lived but excellent Rabbit. As she told me, her time immersed in Columbus’ arts and music communities helped prepare her for the move to Brooklyn. She’s been documenting that move and her times since on her Currently Coveting blog. Sharon now resides in Greenpoint, but she has long had a strong connection to New York: her parents met at Brooklyn Colleage, and when she was a child, her family would come to the city to visit her aunt in Midtown and her grandmother in Flushing.
